The best practices in learning and teaching with technology

ICTECH

Rationale

The ICTech Curriculum is based on the best practices in learning and teaching with technology. This improves the higher order thinking skills of students and prepare them for their future to compete globally. In a world of digital literacy, students are able to integrate 21st century competencies taking lead in communication, leadership, critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills.

Curriculum

The ICTech integrates a range of technological skills such as Word Processing, Programming, Graphic & Media designing, Spreadsheets, Desktop Publishing, Internet, Databases, Operating Systems, Web Development, Mobile App Development, Robotics and Presentation skills.

These skills correlate with subject areas such as Language, Mathematics, Geography, Science, Social Studies and Arts. We ensure students not only learn the technical aspect of technology but they are also able to use this knowledge practically through activities like research, publishing, designing and computer programming to become innovators and entrepreneurs.

STREAM Approach

STREAM Approach

STREAM Approach

STREAM Approach

The STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading/Research, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) philosophy focuses on teaching and learning real-life problem solving skills through incorporation of digital technologies.

Technology-infrastructure is efficiently used by subject teachers to integrate STREAM philosophy in their classrooms. Practical experiments/tasks are added in the subject curriculum for smooth transition to the STREAM approach.

STREAM week is celebrated at all schools across Pakistan in the spring season. STREAM week celebration is somewhat similar to “Science Exhibitions” we conduct at schools. Students and teachers showcase their practical and interactive experiments of Science, Technology, Robotics and other subjects.

Robotics

Robotics

Robotics

Robotics

Robotics is a branch of STEM that includes constructing, operating, designing, developing and applying codes in order to learn how concepts of technology, engineering and coding come to life. In simple language, it is a method of gaining control over machines and learning the mechanics of how they operate.

It is a rapidly expanding field that stores many career scopes in the future. Robotics as part of our ICTECH curriculum equips students with 21st century and future-ready skills.

The few essential skills that children learn in robotics classes:

  • Programming
  • Designing thinking
  • Product development
  • Analytical skills
  • Logic building
  • Problem-solving through engineering

We are the only schooling system who are teaching robotics at this scale and it is a part of regular curriculum. Robotics @ TCS is incorporated using Raspberry PI and EDISON which no other schooling system is offering. Robotics is the mandatory part of our curriculum and all the students in our schools get to experience the true spirit of innovation and STEM education.

Dedicated STEM integrated labs for all class levels which is facilitating 30,000+ student nationwide for ROBOTICS and STEM Education with high end technologies and equipment.

Century

Century

Century is an intervention tool that combines artificial intelligence (AI) with the latest research in learning science and neuroscience. The City School  has successfully introduced CENTURY for the first time in Pakistan. It customizes the students’ learning path and helps in benchmarking student performance. This tool works by identifying gaps in students’ knowledge, addresses misconceptions by personalising content for each learner.

It also helps teachers to have access to easy to use data, spare time consumed in grading student work, keep track of scores and create intervention plans for individuals. It enables teachers to get access to over 1,000s learning resources.

Microsoft School

Microsoft School

Our journey to collaborate with Microsoft formally began in 2019. Nestled under our “TCS Blended” platform, our association with Microsoft and being a Microsoft School status network, helped us create a conducive environment for students to learn. We are proud to announce that two of our campuses were selected as Microsoft Showcase Schools in 2021 and 80 schools are in the incubation process.

We at The City School , use Microsoft Teams to cover a holistic cycle of hybrid learning. It hosts study materials, online classes, assessments, enables quality assurance, tracks student engagement, and allows to fulfill and inculcate teacher professional development.

The City School also took a step forward by training more than 65000+ teachers, students and staff who are utilising Microsoft Teams as its sole learning management solution and as professional communication platform across the network. The City School has hosted more than 1.2 million classes on Microsoft Teams throughout Pakistan. It credits the rich third-party interactive resources integrations for igniting student interest in typically challenging topics.

The City School has also trained over 5,000 teachers and staff, who have attained Microsoft Innovative Educator status, and more than 2700 are certified as Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts.

The City School uses OneNote for teaching mathematics and other collaborative activities during online classes. The Insight analysis tools helps teachers to monitor student engagement during online classes ensuring there is less burden on the teachers. This helps teachers focus more on independent student pace. With the training provided, teachers are today more well-equipped with sound knowledge when it comes to the use of all the latest technologies required for a 21st century classroom.
