Four students from TCS Liaqat Campus, Kohsar — Mahnoor Ashfaque (Class 5), Rafia Khanam (Class 3), Syed Sarim Wasti (Class 6) and Yousaf Khan (Class 4) — participated in the Commonwealth Chess Championship 2015 held in New Delhi, India, from 22-30 June 2015. Syed Sarim Wasti and Mahnoor Ashfaque competed in the Under-12 category, whereas Yousaf Khan competed in the Under-12 and Rafia Khanam in the Under-8 category. Syed Sarim Wasti and Yousaf Khan won two games each.
The students were extremely excited to play chess on an international platform for the very first time. This exposure alone enhanced their confidence and playing with students from other countries improved their chess skills. Given their young age, we can expect them to become exceptional chess players in the future.
