The City School PAF Chapter started the new school year with a commitment to promote reading habits in children. To achieve this goal, the school liaised with Khizar Sohail who is a UK-based PAF Chapter alumnus and the CEO of HB Global Ltd. He is passionate about promoting reading in Pakistan and has donated thousands of books to schools for the underprivileged children and has recently opened up a library in Azad Kashmir.
Khizar helped organise a book fair and several storytelling sessions for Playgroup to Class 6. The storytelling sessions were held from 9 to 12 September and different time slots were assigned to all levels. The sessions were conducted by Sumaiyah Mujtaba, who studied at Cleveland High School in Los Angeles, and Zahra Asif Bhurgri, who has a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Sciences and has a vast teaching experience. The animated sessions were thoroughly enjoyed by the students.
The book fair was held on 16, 17 and 18 September and the students had the opportunity to choose from a wide range of reference, educational and fictional books at discounted prices. The organisers of the fair also donated 115 reference and fiction books to the school libraries.
