The Consulate-General of Japan at Karachi arranged a school visit programme for The City School PAF Chapter, Karachi. A delegation from the Consulate-General visited PAF Chapter on 28 August 2014 to initiate the programme for the Citizens of Class 9. A brief introduction to the programme was given by the Her Excellency Hiroko Tsuchiya, Consul General of Japan. This was followed by the screening of an educational documentary Hello Japan, which offered a comprehensive view of Japan and its culture. The students were introduced to Japan and its culture through presentations on various topics, such as school life in Japan, Japanese food, and Japanese festivals etc. The presentations were followed by cultural workshops and interactive activities such as origami, basic Japanese greetings, counting numbers in Japanese and the art of using chopsticks.
On this occasion, four PAF Chapter alumni, who visited Japan under the youth exchange programme ‘Kizuna Project’ in September 2011, also gave presentations about their memories and experiences in Japan. The word ‘Kizuna’ in Japanese means “bonds”.
After these engaging sessions, a question and answer session was held in which the students asked a variety of questions related to the presentations and workshops. Headmistress PAF Chapter Dr Uzma Shakir thanked the Consulate-General of Japan for conducting this very informative programme.
