Human Rights Film Festival 2017

The City School supported the United Nations and other global organisations in their campaign “HUMAN RIGHTS THROUGH CINEMATOGRAPHY” designed to create awareness regarding Human Rights issues amongst the wider public. The Embassy of Portugal supported this initiative by organising a HUMAN RIGHTS FILM FESTIVAL 2017 from 23 November – 10 December 2017 across Pakistan. A collection of remarkable films based on Human Rights were broadcast at different venues in Gujrat, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta and Rawalpindi.
The City School joined hands with the Embassy of Portugal for this initiative which ensured a healthy participation of young people. As part of our “Values Education” programme, our secondary level and senior campus students attended these film sessions. In particular ‘WELCOME TO REGUGEESTAN’ by Anne Pioret, a Portuguese Director, was screened at The City School flagship campuses on 23 November 2017. The film highlighted the scale of the global refugee crisis as well as the harsh reality of life in a refugee camp. The campuses included PAF Chapter, Karachi, Capital Campus, Islamabad; RAVI Campus, DHA Campus, Paragon and Shalimar Campus from the Lahore region.
Insight into this societal issue was a great step towards encouraging the global awareness of our students and their understanding of the challenge of meeting the welfare needs of humanity in many countries.
