Environmental Efforts – DHA Alpha Campus

‘Let’s protect our earth today for our children’s tomorrow.’  With this message, Pre-Juniors of The City School – Alpha organised a Plantation Activity along with an oath-taking ceremony for parents and students of Playgroup to Junior II to celebrate Earth Day on 22 April 2014.

The students pledged to care for our Mother Earth for a better future. They raised their right hand and took the following oath:

  • We will not waste water and electricity.
  • We will plant more trees and flowers.
  • We will not pluck or spoil the flowers.
  • We will throw litter in the trash cans.
  • We will rescue animals.
  • We will reuse the used material.

An Earth Day song was performed by the choir to cherish this day, capture the spirit of Earth Day and join in the dedication of the students and staff for a better future.

The plantation activity started after parents were directed by the teachers to come forward and plant their shrubs and plants with the help of the gardener and helpers. Gloves and water sprays were available for the parents, who took part in the plantation activity with their children and helped them plant their plants in their allotted areas. The gardener and support staff were ready to lend a helping hand. Needless to say, it was an activity that would stay in the hearts and minds of the parents and children for a long time to come.
