Darakhshan Girls Tour to Malaysia and Singapore

The joy of 32 Senior girls from Darakhshan Campus knew no bounds when they set off from Karachi on the early morning of 6 November 2015 for an international tour to Malaysia and Singapore. Travelling with Qatar Airways, they had a two-hour stay at Doha Airport and reached Kuala Lumpur at 8 in the evening.

A city tour was planned for the very next day. It started off at the Batu Caves, which is a holy place for Hindus. They were fascinated to see the famous 42.7-metre tall statue of Lord Murugan, covered in gold paint, at the foot of the caves. To reach the caves, the girls took up the challenge of climbing a steep flight of 272 steps. There were monkeys roaming around the steps, trying to get the visitors’ attention.
After that they went to well-known PETRONAS Twin Towers. The view from the top was absolutely breath-taking. The next stop was Taylor’s University, where the students got information about their admission services. It was a huge campus with different departments. They also enjoyed the sudden showers of rain while sipping the aromatic Starbucks coffee. The evening ended with a tour of i-City. It was a fun place as there were a lot of activities to do at the Trick Art Museum, where the students captured photographs with 3D effects and also went to a 5D cinema. It was a great place for them to have quality time with their friends.
The Lost World of Tambun was explored on the third day. It is a serene water park surrounded by the beauty of nature with lush green trees and mountains. The fun doubled when it rained heavily while they were swimming in the warm pools. Shopping and dinner on their way back to the hotel was even more exhilarating.
The fourth day had more exciting activities in store for the team as they visited the Sunway Lagoon theme park. The entire day girls enjoyed water rides, slides and explored the adventurous wildlife park. Since it was the last day of their stay in Kuala Lumpur, the girls lived in the moment and made the most of their time.
After having breakfast early morning at the Grand Season Hotel on the fifth day, the team left for Singapore. It was early evening by the time they checked in at the Cherry Loft Hotel in Singapore. After relaxing a little, they went out to explore the surrounding areas and have dinner. The next day they had a city tour that was truly phenomenal. They went to the Singapore Merlion first, from where they could see the Singapore Flyer and the Marina Bay Hotel. Afterwards, they headed to China Town where they visited a Buddhist temple and got to know a lot about Buddhism. From there, they were taken to the Singapore University of Management to be familiarised with the academic procedures followed there.

On day seven, they went to Sentosa Island where they witnessed the marine life of the SEA Aquarium and watched the show ‘Wings of Time’ set in the open sea. They were amazed to see robotic water fountains, the latest multimedia effects including 3D projection mapping, state-of-the-art lasers and giant water jets. The fireworks at the end were just cherry on the top.
The eighth day in Singapore was the most anticipated one as they finally got to visit Universal Studios! They were entertained by the Madagascar movie characters and thrilled by the Mummy rollercoaster in the ‘Lost World of Egypt.’ After buying souvenirs, they all went back to the hotel.
They landed back in Karachi on 15 November 2015. Travelling to another country with schoolmates was indeed a memorable experience that provided them an opportunity to observe different cultures and religions. Above all, they learnt about responsibility, independence and self-control – qualities that will be appreciated more by their parents than the girls themselves.
