The City Olympiad II

On 31 October 2014, all roads led to the City Olympiad II, an event hosted by the Sports Club of A Level Campus Gulberg. The Sports Complex of The City School was the perfect setting for all the participating teams and their mentors to be a part of fun and games!

A variety of activities – basketball, football, cricket, badminton, table tennis, throw ball, tug of war, and board games for boys and girls – ensured a healthy and vigorous participation by all. The event attracted more than 20 teams from different schools and colleges of Lahore including many of the renowned school systems, on their second consecutive appearance at this event.

The Opening Ceremony started with a recitation from the Holy Quran followed by the National Anthem. All participating teams took an oath depicting a belief in the Olympic spirit of fair and equal participation, free from bias and prejudice. Regional Sports Coordinator Mr Asghar Anjum took the oath from the participants.

Principal Ms Sophia Burki officially declared the City Olympiad II open, which led to a series of tense, rigorous and nail-biting events over the next three days. The zealous efforts of winners were rewarded with prizes and acknowledgements on the third day of the event. National cricketer Mr Nasir Jamshed was invited as Guest of Honour for the Prize Distribution Ceremony. Principal Ms Sophia Burki and Chief Guest Mr Nasir Jamshed gave away the individual and team prizes.

The winner and runner-up teams from Beaconhouse Defence Campus and Lahore Grammar School Phase V were awarded with trophies along with individual Gold and Silver medals.
