As part of The City School’s Project-Based Learning (PBL) curriculum, Junior-V students of Khairpur Campus visited the renowned Faiz Mahal on 22 November 2013.
Citizens were encouraged to conduct an independent historical study and survey of the legendary Talpur family of Khairpur who live in the Faiz Mahal. Through this study, the novice researchers were motivated to produce survey reports of high standards. Student surveys are important in providing information that can help improve the effectiveness of education.
Our Citizens presented a set of questionnaires to Prince Mir Mehdi Raza Khan Talpur, who shared with them his observations and experiences from childhood. They were also given a tour of important places around the Palace.
The Prince believed that the kind of approach which The City School has adopted to facilitate practical learning was a very positive initiative and would be very effective in engaging the students in their learning. It will also help in improving the students’ overall knowledge and confidence. Prince Mir Mehdi Raza also added that The City School system is playing an important role in raising the standards of education in Pakistan.
After the visit, our Citizens used the accumulated data to design a handbook which covers in detail the great heritage of the former State of Khairpur.
