The City School Capital Campus held its 7th Model United Nations in City (MUNiC) from 4 to 6 August 2015. The annual debating conference, simulating UN committees and sessions, gave the participants a chance to delve into the world of professional diplomacy and international affairs.
It started with sessions at Capital Campus where MUN Director General Mujtaba ul Haq gave his opening speech and MUN Secretary General Sarim Jamal officially declared the conference open. After a day of productive and invigorating debates, the cultural extravaganza ‘Global Village’ was held at the Majestic Banquet Hall in Islamabad. Forty UN member nations were represented and the event was attended by diplomatic missions from the French Republic and Turkey. The Secretary General gave his welcome speech and the judges assessed a vast array of different cuisines, cultural dresses and architectural models on display. The award for the best stall at the Global Village was presented to the delegation representing Greece. Regional Director North Ms Shireen Jawaid also attended the function and highly appreciated the students’ efforts in making the event a success.
The second day saw the debates picking up pace and the delegations forming blocs and coalitions. After a day of gruelling debates, the participants relaxed and enjoyed the ‘Dance Mania’ – a modern-day breakdancing event showcasing professional Pakistani crews ‘The Urban Jackhammer’ and ‘Synergy’.
On the last day, comprehensive resolutions were passed and the debates drew to a close. The City School administration presented accolades in the award ceremony. The Best Delegation award was won by team USA, represented by Capital Campus Team A.
