The students of Junior B Section Darakhshan Campus, Karachi organised their annual play ‘Escape to Wonderland’ on 15 April 2016. The event was graced by Ms Primrose Mathew (Director International, and Regional Director, Southern Region), Ms Nafisa Zanzibarwala (GM Academics), Ms Naila Durrani (Principal), Mr Saif-e-Hassan (TV Producer and Director).

The stage and theatre were set up with vibrant coloured props and characters from Alice in Wonderland. The SMD screen for the backdrop provided plenty of colours and variety to distinguish each scene from the other. The play was a 7-scene musical drama directed by the Senior Mistress, Ms Nadia Jafarey.  The story revolves around Alice and follows her into the Wonderland where she meets odd creatures such as a doorknob, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, Mad Hatter, talking flowers, a March Hare, a Dormouse, Caterpillar and the King and Queen of Hearts with their card men. The play involved a total of 171 performers and the parents were very impressed by the outstanding performance of the students. The choir comprising 56 students sang beautifully and the acting of the characters was par excellence. The event provided a great opportunity to the audience to witness the talent and exceptional acting and singing skills of the students.
