We have an Alumni Mentorship Programme at The City School, the main purpose of which is to connect current students with TCS alumni. We are looking forward to promoting and advocating a culture of mentorship and would like to invite you to be a part of this programme. The programme currently has three types of initiatives. If interested, you may choose to volunteer to be part of one, two or all three of these initiatives.
1. One-on-one mentorship
The purpose of this initiative is to connect current students, based on their interests, with specific alumni members to encourage them to seek guidance in a personalised informal manner. Each student will be matched with an alumnus based on a predefined criterion. Each alumnus may choose to serve as a mentor for a maximum of 10 students. Alumni who are interested in signing up for this initiative will be put in touch with their mentees via email. It is up to the mentor and mentee to decide which medium of communication is more effective for them (email, Skype, phone or in person).
2. Group mentorship
This type of mentorship involves informal interaction with small groups of students (maximum 15). Mentors can decide how many sessions per year they are willing to commit to and which city works for them.
3. Mentor as a Guest Speaker
Alumni can also volunteer to come as a guest speaker/motivational speaker to one of The City School branches and interact with a larger audience (30 to 100).
Expectations: Mentors are expected to provide academic, career and personal guidance. By sharing their own personal experiences, it is expected that the transition from school life to university life and eventually the workplace will be made easier for these students.
